Summit Charter Intermediate Academy is a dependent Charter School within the Burton School District. In 2013, Summit Charter Collegiate Academy received authorization as an International Baccalaureate World School. At the opening of Summit Charter Intermediate Academy in the fall of 2018, the Middle Years Program Authorization status was transferred to the Burton School District’s newest intermediate campus. We are proud to be the only Middle Years Program IB World School in Tulare County.
As an IB World School, students are provided with a well-rounded education that adds breadth and depth to the traditional school format. Spanish language instruction, a focus on the IB Learner Profile Traits, as well as action leading toward the Community Project, all serve as enticing benefits to students and parents for attending SCIA. The Spanish classes provided are designed to focus on conversational Spanish, as well as culture, traditions, and development of various perspectives targeting international-mindedness. All students attend Spanish class on a twice weekly (6th grade) or daily (7th and 8th grades) basis.
The IB Community Project provides 8th grade students with the unique opportunity to reflect on their learning throughout their years at SCIA. We encourage and invite all students, stakeholders and families to attend the showcase, in the spring, to observe what the intermediate students have learned and the actions they have taken.
